 MUSIC IN INDIA 

Music is an art of all emotions. It is an art of voice which is good to listen. Music is one of the oldest arts in India. In India there is a lot of craze of music. We also Goddess Saraswati who is worshiped as goddess of music and education in India. All people worship Goddess Saraswati. In India, all types of music in all languages are sung in all areas of the country.

TYPES

The main which are originated and sung in India are below:

Indian Music: This is the music which is composed in India. It is mainly divided into:


  1. Indian Classical Music: Indian Classical Music is the classical music sung and composed in the Southern Indian subcontinent. These were composed several centuries ago and these also kept the capability of hypnotizing, changing the weather, lighting fire etc. if sung properly. These mainly consisted of shrutis, taal(lay), and different types of kyals and singing forms like sargamgeet, alankar etc. There were several singers of this type of music in the past and this was and is always said to be very pure. These is further divided into two parts which are below:

  • Carnatic Music: These were mainly composed in the southern region (mainly Karnataka) of the Indian subcontinent. These were harder than the other types of music. This can be mainly written in two types of writing ways which are 'Bhatkande writing way(which is the most popular)' and 'Vishnu Digamber writing way'. This type of music got famous after 14th century in Vijayanagar Kingdom of  India.
  • Hindustani Classical Music: Hindustani Classical Music is the Indian Classical Music sung and composed in the northern and north-eastern part of India. These were also composed several years ago and are a little easier. This music came in talks of people during the 12th century when it got divided from the Carnatic Music and went in the northern part of India. 
      2. Indian Normal People Music: These are all those musics of India which are other than the Classical Music. Some of them were considered as very bad/ impure to sing because they were sung by lower castes and those people who were known as untouchables.

INSTRUMENTS

There are several instruments used in our India. Some of the main are below with a little description :


  1. Most famous, The Veena. This is because it comes in the first number when used by any person for typical music of India. Also,this the instrument used by Goddess Saraswati

         2. Second one which is truly recommended for most of the beginner. Actually this was invented            in France but when it came to India in 19th century, it was truly a hit and all people liked it.

3. Tabla: As it was written in the starting of classical music that lay/ taal plays an important role in music, for this we need certain rhythm instruments and the most famous and most used out of them is the tabla. This consists of two drum type small instruments which are played by tapping hands on it. This is the instrument used by very talented and famous Ustad Zakir Hussain.

Tanpura - India Instruments
[7]Miraj Tanpura, Tanpura, तम्बूरा - Bhagwati Musical Store ...4. Tanpura: Tanpura is also one of the most famous instruments in Indian music since many centuries. This instrument is used to help the singers get there sur and gives them a good company. It has a long neck and is a stringed instrument. Also this was the instrument used by Miya Tansen. The best makers of the tanpura are the Mirajkar family.
